nice rainbow

I got lots of sweet comments on this dress today. One comment I never would have thought about was "Hey, nice rainbow! G-Pride" I seriously couldn't help but laugh. Speaking of laughing, my husband took me to Braum's on Sunday because I told him I wanted a banana split. (Braum's is a dairy/ice cream store in the South/Texas) Lo and behold, we get there and banana splits are ON SALE...score! He told the poor HS kid on the counter he wanted a "deluxe banana split," because that is what the picture said behind the counter. The kid stared at the picture...and stared...and kept looking at it...and then asked my husband, "Uh...do you know what goes on a deluxe banana split?" And...then I came to the rescue and told my husband and the boy he didn't know his banana splits because we just wanted the normal banana split. Have you had enough of my story yet? Then I preceded to laugh completely hysterically for at least 5 minutes. Tears and everything. I couldn't even get a grip. Y'all, pregnancy makes you cray-cray!!

a nice break

I'm playing catch up still from the four day weekend. It was amazing to just lounge around the house, catch up with friends and family, and just really kick back and enjoy four days.
If you read Leah's earlier post, I was so lucky to get to spend time with her and another lovely, Daisy. We got to go to Kendi's store and it was a fun time!

Ok, so I know the picture is dark. Let's just be real here. It was after 5. I'd worked all day. Be glad I even had shoes still on
Crazy though, that in 20 weeks--there will be a baby in that thing.

let me just tell you

I am just sitting around the house killing some time until my flight tonight to Dallas.
This might be one of the last times (hoping for at least one more!) I make it to those parts before the baby is born...which is just so crazy to even think of.
I am off Friday and Monday so it is a super exciting weekend for me to see family and FRIENDS.
I haven't done any baby shopping at all so I am hoping to look around at some places and get some things done.
We had our 4D sonogram on Monday and it is amazing to see what the baby looks like.
Happy Easter/Holiday Weekend Y'all!!

don't judge me for not having shoes on.

I told the kids I would wear blue if it was a boy and pink if it was a girl...so I had to throw them off just a little bit!

what's been up?

Oh not much going on here, just growing a baby and all.

You don't even want to know where my clothes are from...maternity clothes! BOO! Regular clothes just weren't making the cut anymore. I do have some pretty cute dresses that I will bust out soon since Old Navy was having a killer sale online.

I did read this great post at Cup of Jo on a new maternity line I'll have to check out. One thing is for sure, I'm not getting any smaller!

I had my 3D ultrasound today and we got some super sweet pics of the face. I am lucky...2nd trimester is amazing and I have been feeling a million times better--still little things here and there, but nothing major. I am SUPER excited x a million to go to Dallas this weekend to see friends and family...badly needed vacay, and my vacation days are pretty limited!

Word!

18 March 2012

I am so glad to have made it to the second trimester. For me, it IS true what most people told me-that the 2nd is much better than the first. In many ways, I was still very blessed to have a "relatively" easy first trimester. No actual morning sickness (as in coming back up--my worst fear!), but I did have some nausea, major migraines, aches and pains, and indescribable exhaustion. I'm feeling pretty good now...getting my appetite back, headaches are minimal, and not AS tired as I was just a month ago.

Something that is crazy to me, is the comments people make to you when you are out in public. I was at a birthday party last night one of our friends' grandfathers and had many people ask me things like how far along I am, when I'm due, stuff like that--no big deal. I was really shocked when people say things like, "Oh, you look much bigger than you are!" or "That is one big bump!" Gee...thanks. Cue kind of awkward moment.

What do you think...boy? Or girl?
Maxi dresses are my bff. As if they weren't already anyways...it's like pj's. All day.

I have a doctors appointment tomorrow...so I'm still praying news is all good!

spring break

I am more ready for spring break this year than I have ever been in my career or at least a LONG time. One thing I can say for sure; is that I am certainly blessed in the first place by just having a career where I get a spring break! This will be the first year in a number of years I haven't taken a fun trip somewhere, but with baby on the brain...I think it is a small sacrifice to make. I would like to take a trip to Dallas to see family and friends, but it is almost too hard to NOT spend money and we are really working hard to save. Did I mention I really need to find a good pair of maternity jeans? Boo. I will have to cave soon and bite the bullet.

believe me

I didn't know something the size of a peach could literally cause so much back pain. At the rate I'm going, I'll need a scooter to get me from point A to point B for the next 6 months. Other than that, I'm pretty lucky in that I have felt generally pretty good. Our monster child is growing like a weed. It's actually pretty scary when a co-worker/friend comes up to you in the hall and says, "You better pray for a c-section."
Jesus, help me.

I'm on an anti-maternity clothes ban. So far, I'm doing pretty good. Anyone you know made it through their pregnancy without buying maternity clothes?

bump bump

I promise not to turn all my posts into baby blogging. I might be lying a little. I just want to pretend I have a life.
Want to hear about the craziest month ever? I went from not even knowing I was pregnant a month and two days ago, to having complications, to not fitting into any of my clothes, to finding out the GENDER {still keeping it a little secret}, and in six months...I will have a little bambino on my hands.
Talk about cray-cray.

Yup. Almost 13 weeks. I've only put on 5 pounds, but thanks to my jolly green giant husband's genes, the baby is measuring about the size of a 15-16 week baby. I will have a cantaloupe on my hands in a few weeks.

stripes and dots

I'm not sure what my problem is, but I got dressed in the dark this morning.
What I determine to be as a brown palette, was really olive and pink. Which doesn't really match with a green and orange scarf. At this point in my life, matching is the least of my worries. Less really is more I guess...I got a lot of compliments on my outfit today.

14 February 2012

big...big news.

It's been a while. The last few weeks have required me to make more life adjustments than I probably have in my entire life in such a short amount of time.
The reason for my absence?
Sometimes less is more...see for yourself.
7 weeks8 weeks9 weeks10 weeks
Yup. That's no food baby. The exhaustion has literally prevented me from blogging. Literally...nothing could prepare me for this, and I had no idea it was even possible to be so tired. Figuring out how to get from couch to bed has been an agonizing decision at some points. I haven't wanted to announce it, and really wanted to wait another week before going public...but at this point, you can see it is getting pretty hard to hide. Which means I am going to have to cave soon and venture into the world of maternity fashion...and I'm not going to lie...I'm having a hard time coming to terms with having to buy maternity clothes.

It definitely hasn't been an easy road the past few weeks. We definitely were surprised, and I didn't even know until I was 8 weeks. I did have some pretty serious complications around then, so if you are a believer in the power of prayer, we will take everything we can get.
Until then...hoping my energy can stay up so I can keep on posting.

Blessed and blessings!
Lyd

double check

Check me out.
I really liked what I saw with double layering over at Apples and Pencil Skirts.
I decided to try it out for myself with a gingham and maxi-check.
It must have been a hit because I got major compliments today.

I am just really glad I didn't layer the opposite way--navy on pink, because one of my students who is one of my favs, but so effeminate and hilarious was wearing a pretty much identical navy check shirt. You should have heard us shriek in the cafeteria when we realized we were semi-twinsies. Hopefully it never happens again.

new obsession

Do you read The Daybook? I think anyone would agree Sydney is mega presh.
Well, she had a little baby a couple months ago and I noticed during her pregnancy she wore tons of ponchos. I think she even wore some pre-prego. Quickly, I scoured the internet and pinterest for all things blanket-like. Did I mention I was also becoming obsessed with Navajo print? And then...I came across this baby at Old Navy. I was major disappointed when I went in the store a week after Christmas to return some sweaters, only to find disheveled items everywhere and no prize in sight. I didn't give in. I had a store credit and I vowed when I went back in a week the sweater would be there. I had to make it mine.
I went to the store on Monday. Low and behold...you'd think I had found the holy grail. And the holy grain was on sale. I searched for my size and didn't see it. But any savvy shopper knows...when the size is out, turn to the mannequin! The last one in my size was on the mannequin. It was love at first sight.
Blanket? Cardigan? Blanket-cardigan? GENIUS.

pin this

I am so psyched about the three day weekend I have coming up. Yup, that's right. I just came off a two week break and now a three day weekend. Pretty much the best job ever.
In other news, I got compared to a pinterest outfit today. As in "Your outfit looks like an outfit that I pin on pinterest but can never put together."
I'll take it as a compliment.

no plan

I didn't plan this, but EBEW is having their black and white day!! Awesome! It was actually really weird because there were quite a few people at work decked in black and white today. Must be one of those weeks!
By the way...does anyone ever get rubbed on while wearing a fur vest? I got rubbed on a lot today. I also got asked a lot what type of fur I was wearing.
Weird!

road trip

My days off work are numbered and the items on my list to be done are also dwindling, so I made a trip the 80 miles north to go eat lunch with my husband. The weather here has been wacky, and it's not quite cold enough for a coat during the day, but layers are still necessary...it's a little warmer than normal. I might as well enjoy it while I can since I am sure it will be snowing before I know it. However...I got a pair of snow boots I have been pining for and I cannot wait to wear them!

IMG_2546
I definitely neglect these jeans. They were such a fantastic find (Tory Burch-less than $60 if I remember correctly, and must be brand new) at Buffalo Exchange in Austin. I absolutely love the fit and the flare is perfect!

cheers to the new year

I hope everyone had an awesome time ringing in the new year.
We didn't have any big plans since we were just coming off a vacation last week. Husband and I had a date night on Friday at a local wine bar, where we had dinner at watched 'The Big Lebowski.'

Yesterday night, we just went to dinner at a little Italian bistro. It was a nice, low-key and not crowded at all. Ironically, when we went to sit at the bar, there was a teacher/coach I formerly worked with who retired two years ago after 42 years of being in education.
I can't even begin to tell you how enjoyable it was catching up with him and just having a lot of good conversation between the three of us. It was a very blessed way to ring in the new year.
My mom gave us "Texas Tech-Opoly" for Christmas, and we sat down to play that and watch tv. Well, Monopoly (or any version of it...) is the longest game ever, and by 1 am we called it quits and went to bed. (Needless to say I was about to have to mortgage everything I owned anyways to pay for the space I landed on).

Happy 2012!!

snow bunny

Like Leah, my husband and I took a couple days of vacation to Ruidoso, New Mexico for some skiing and fun in the snow. The weather was amazing and it snowed every day we were there. My husband has been taking trips to Ruidoso to his family's cabin since he was a little boy, so it was fun to share memories with him.
