While visiting our friends Andrew and Kristin in Minnesota this summer, Kristin took me to my first-ever estate sale. At first I was definitely a little freaked out at picking over someone's belongings who has just passed, but Kristin is an estate sale pro and quickly helped me get over my discontent. Especially...when we opened up the closet and discovered this vintage Ralph Lauren skirt. Call it grandma chic...but I tried it on right there in the bedroom over my shorts, not letting the size 12 tag discourage me, and it fit like a glove. Did I mention it was $3? It included this blouse with shoulder pads, but they had to go. Granted, my husband at dinner tonight did ask me why it is so high waisted, to which I replied, "Granny Chic, baby, you wouldn't understand."

It was one of those mornings.
Someone had a little too much Skinnygirl margarita and sangria last night.
That someone also stayed up a little too late.
And...someone tried on about five outfits before settling and dashing out the door because nothing looked right, but who cares anyways?
That someone was blessed with a beautiful sky to enjoy on the way to work.

I felt exactly like "Little House on the Prairie" in this outfit today. Then, someone commented to me that I actually looked like LHOTP. I guess I was channeling a little too hard.
skirt: thrifted, austin-vintage 70's
i love everything about this skirt! the pattern, the lace, the fit.
Funny story about this picture. I do a survey with my kids on the first day of school so I can get to know them better. The last question asks if they have any questions or comments for me and then I answer them on the second day of school. Some kids write normal stuff and some write cute, funny stuff.
In case you can't read it, it says "You look like you can dress so cool." Notice the "look like you can" is crossed out. Isn't that hilarious!? And it was written by one of my male students who wants to go into modeling and fashion. He has an eye for style. :-)

First day of school. Super exciting. I swear, I get just as excited every year as I was when I was in kindergarten. I am about to start my 7th year teaching, but every year for the past three years I have taken a "first day of school" picture. It is something I wish I had done every year because I think it would be so fun to look back on!
It posted weird....this post is best read pictures from bottom-up. :-)

So I had to have these sandals that Leah Vee wears. I tried them on when she bought them and decided against it, but Monday night I bought them online. I wasn't expecting them to show up until next week, but they were at my door yesterday when I got home from work. Thank you Nine West for your speedy service...I wore them last night and today. boo-yah

It was about time for me to get new specs.
I got two pairs but only one came in today.
Talk about someone smiling down on me...my glasses actually broke today when one lens fell out and I couldn't fix it on my own. I had to wear my sunglasses for about three hours at work just so I could see.
leggings: forever 21
I just read a fascinating article in the Harvard Business Review about Zara and their operational model. I'm just saying.
