cheers to the new year

I hope everyone had an awesome time ringing in the new year.
We didn't have any big plans since we were just coming off a vacation last week. Husband and I had a date night on Friday at a local wine bar, where we had dinner at watched 'The Big Lebowski.'

Yesterday night, we just went to dinner at a little Italian bistro. It was a nice, low-key and not crowded at all. Ironically, when we went to sit at the bar, there was a teacher/coach I formerly worked with who retired two years ago after 42 years of being in education.
I can't even begin to tell you how enjoyable it was catching up with him and just having a lot of good conversation between the three of us. It was a very blessed way to ring in the new year.
My mom gave us "Texas Tech-Opoly" for Christmas, and we sat down to play that and watch tv. Well, Monopoly (or any version of it...) is the longest game ever, and by 1 am we called it quits and went to bed. (Needless to say I was about to have to mortgage everything I owned anyways to pay for the space I landed on).

Happy 2012!!

snow bunny

Like Leah, my husband and I took a couple days of vacation to Ruidoso, New Mexico for some skiing and fun in the snow. The weather was amazing and it snowed every day we were there. My husband has been taking trips to Ruidoso to his family's cabin since he was a little boy, so it was fun to share memories with him.

it's the season

I have a confession to make...but I don't decorate for any holidays. Seriously, I hate storing stuff, so I don't ever get stuff to decorate for holidays, and that includes putting up a Christmas tree. I am just really not into decorating stuff at all, and my husband hates what he calls "knick-knacks," so it can be hard to get into holidays at our casa. I do think it would be fun to put up a little Charlie Brown Christmas Tree as a joke, but other than that, we don't do anything.
I feel like the start of the season for me is the first Christmas party, which was my work party on Saturday night.
We had to run some errands that day, and I was seriously lacking motivation for anything so I threw on jeans and a sweatshirt.
Check out my hair! *Thank you pinterest!*

I am obsessed with this shirt. Leah blogged it the other day, and I did not know she had it. Don't be surprised if you see me wear it again this week.

football frenzy

I am super lucky to live relatively close to the college my husband and I attended. We have season tickets this year and drove down to attend the first football game. It was such a fun weekend filled with seeing friends, eating good food, football, and old memories!

As soon as we arrived, we got a great parking spot right by one of our favorite bars...and a front row seat right at the bar! SCORE for us.

Quick pic with the husband...it was a little crazy how much older we looked than everyone else at the bar.
securedownload-7
We made our way down to the tailgate for a little while pre-game. I should have taken a pic of the back of my dress...it has a heart and the TTU logo on it!

The band making its way to the stadium for the game.

We made our way to the game and the weather was amazing. During the second q-we could see a storm rolling in from the North, and LITERALLY could see clouds of dust and rain heading toward the stadium. People started running...and we stayed. And then we ran. It wasn't too bad, but we headed to the Alumni Pavilion to hang out with some other friends for the rest of the game and had a blast there.

Husband decided we were having too much fun to drive back home so he got a hotel room and we stayed the night. So...with only the clothes on our backs, we crashed out late that night. In the morning, we ate at one of our favorite breakfast spots on our way out of town. I have pictures of us eating here for breakfast almost 9 years ago, and we have some great memories here! This place has been open for over 40 years and we talked about one day bringing our kids here when they go to our awesome school too...hopefully.

Hope your labor day weekend was as awesome and blessed as mine!

show the love

I arrived in Dallas today. My Dad's girlfriend got a new truck and I wanted to take pics to show my husband and an outfit pic for the blog. The first one looked like this:

flats: gap (these HAVE to be the most comfy flats I've ever worn)

Then, Dad says "Ok, we need a picture of you by the tire." So I move around...and the second pic looks like this:
